There's a corner of Genoa that shares its name with our houses even before being a destination worth visiting: it's the Waterfront di Levante, the Renzo Piano-designed project that, from October 1 to 6, 2026, will host the 66th edition of the Genoa International Boat Show.

It's no coincidence that Waterfront Acquario House and Waterfront Porto Antico House are named this way. They sit right in the middle of the urban transformation that has redesigned Genoa's seafront — and that, every autumn, for one week, becomes the center of the world's yachting scene.

The 2026 Boat Show: what's changing this year

After years in September, the Boat Show returns to its historic dates: from October 1 to 6, 2026, in the Piazzale Kennedy area, within the Waterfront di Levante. It's the 66th edition of an event born in 1962, today ranked among the top three boat shows in the world by industry relevance, drawing an international audience of professionals, enthusiasts and visitors interested in high-end products and services.

To get a sense of scale: the 2025 edition closed with 124,248 visitors, over 1,000 boats on display and shipyards from 45 countries, across more than 200,000 sqm between land and water. Numbers that show what it means to have this event just steps from home for a whole week.

The Waterfront di Levante, almost complete

The district hosting the Boat Show is, these months, a construction site nearing completion. Renzo Piano's project has already delivered visible results: the new Waterfront Mall at the Palasport, opened in March 2026 with nearly 100 shops and restaurants, and the marina's new dock. The Piazzale Kennedy urban park, however, is running behind its original schedule: it's not yet clear whether the works will be finished in time for the Boat Show's opening in October. Even so, the district has already changed profoundly compared to just a few years ago, and it's worth experiencing even outside the show's dates.

Why stay right here during the Boat Show

Anyone coming to Genoa for the Boat Show wants one thing above all: not to waste time getting around, in a week where every day among the pavilions counts. Waterfront Acquario House and Waterfront Porto Antico House are just a few minutes' walk from the exhibition area — a convenience that hotels in the city center, further away, can't offer in the same way.

There's also a practical detail that anyone arriving by car will appreciate right away: both houses have parking with direct pedestrian access from the garage onto the docks. That means leaving the car and reaching the show on foot without crossing busy streets or hunting for parking during the fair's peak days — a real advantage in a week when traffic in the Waterfront area is among the heaviest of the year, and a detail that a city-center hotel can rarely match.

It's the same reason it's worth exploring the rest of the seafront on foot: if you have time between pavilions, the walk from the Waterfront to Boccadasse remains one of the best ways to experience the other side of Genoa — the slower one, just steps away from the show's traffic.

Where to stay during the Genoa Boat Show: the two houses in the Waterfront

Waterfront Acquario House — sea view, steps from the exhibition area, garage with direct pedestrian access onto the docks.

Waterfront Porto Antico House — in the heart of the redeveloped area, convenient for both the Boat Show and the Porto Antico, with the same parking comfort.

During the Boat Show, demand for accommodation in Genoa rises significantly: it's worth checking availability well in advance.

Fun Facts: History and Construction

1962, the first edition. The Boat Show was born in Genoa on January 27, 1962: entry ticket 250 lire, 430 exhibitors, 16 nations, about 300,000 visitors across just 30,000 sqm — today the surface exceeds 200,000 sqm. The first president was Giuseppe De André, father of singer-songwriter Fabrizio.
The largest sea giant ever hosted. In 2006 the Show welcomed the Maltese Falcon, 88 meters long with 2,400 sqm of sails on three rotating carbon masts, operable by a single person in just minutes.
The Palasport and the Beatles. Pavilion S, built in 1962 as one of the first large tensile structures in Europe, hosted a Beatles concert in 1965 — today it's the heart of the new Waterfront Mall.
A 2026 novelty to watch. The Riva shipyard unveiled the Riva 54 Metri in June 2026, the largest Riva ever built (54.83 meters): it's not yet confirmed whether it will be among the boats on display at the Show, but it's still the talk of the luxury yachting world.
Genoa is already looking ahead to 2027. At the 2025 Show, the agreement was signed to bring the America's Cup to Naples in 2027 — the first time in Italy in 174 years of the competition's history. The preliminary regattas, in late September 2026, will be held right around the dates of the Genoa Boat Show.
